First step, cardio! Most people do not like cardio days and running, but cardio-vascular endurance exercises are crucial to losing weight. Cardio is the best way to losing calories. And losing calories means losing weight. People need to get their heart rate up in order to lose weight. And most importantly, sweat!
Second step, cut the carbs! Carbohydrates are needed in the body, but you should limit the intake. Unused carbohydrates are converted into sugar and then stored as fat. So too much carbohydrates in the diet turns to fat. If less carbohydrates are consumed, the body will not burn the carbohydrates in the body. It will just burn the excess fat. This is what we want.
Third step, increase the fruit and veggie intake! Fruits and vegetables are essential to every diet. But they are even more important when you are trying to lose weight. Fruits and vegetables are full of water, and this can make you feel full. This full feeling from fruits and vegetables will prevent you from eating further calories that will not be burned. Fruits and veggies are also low in calories, and have plenty of vitamins and minerals.
Fourth step, don't eat junk food! Junk food is high in sugar, fat, and calories. These are three things you want to limit and avoid when losing weight. Sugar, fat, and calories are okay in low quantities. But they can be a killer in high amounts.
Fifth step, drink plenty of water! Water is an excellent way to fulfill your hungry stomach. Water does not contain any calories, and can give your body a sensation of fullness. If you are getting hungry, drink water and that will calm your hunger.
Sixth step, stay busy! Most people tend to eat when they are bored. If people are bored at home, they tend to venture to the refrigerator or the food pantry and eat until they are bored of eating. Boredom is a huge problem when it comes to losing weight, because people will eat even if they are not hungry. If you ever find yourself bored and wanting to eat, do something active.
Seventh step, eat only at meal times on a plate! A lot of unwanted calories come from snacking and splurge of the moment binges on food. This means no snacking and no "just because" eating. Eat only when it is a meal time, and eat only from a plate.
Eighth step, do not skip meals! People tend to think that the key to losing weight is to not eat. Absolutely wrong! First off, skipping meals does not give your body the energy to function. Food is calories, and calories are energy. So you must eat food to get the energy Second, skipping meals actually causes you to gain weight. If the body is used to only getting a small amount of calories a day, the body will start to store the calories as fat.
