Losing Weight The Healthy Way
Maintaining a healthy weight is hard, and losing weight is even harder. For one to succeed at either task, he or she must have a well thought out stress free plan to devote to. By stress free I mean do not go extreme and eat no more of your favorite dishes just because you learned that they do contribute to weight gain. Yes it's a strategy that you know will fail right from the onset for should you terribly yearn for that goody good dish, then you will eat more of it than ever. Starving oneself by skipping meals is neither the solution, for you will lose weight but in form of muscle and water, which of course is not healthy. However, there are a lot of proven ways, small but powerful through which one can achieve lasting weight loss success while maintain a healthy relationship with food.
The weight equation is simple. If you eat more calories than you burn, you will certainly gain weight and if you burn more calories than you eat, then you will lose weight.
One pound of fat is equated to 3500 calories. So if you take it upon to reduce your daily calories in take by 500, then in a week's time you would have fore fate (assuming it was very dear) 7×500=3500 calories. Yes, you must be thumping your chest like Ganda the big silver-back that roams the Bwindi impenetrable forests of Uganda, but then I say, stop! If it's that simple, then why is obesity a big ever growing problem of the developed nations and the developing nations?
More than often, we make weight loss... , let me say a little bit harder than it should be. This is through;
• Extreme diets that leave us sad, starving and weak.
• Unhealthy lifestyles that undermine our dieting efforts.
• Our emotional eating habits that undo all that has been gained.
But there is a way to win the battle of the bulge without being miserable but by taking smart choices every day, developing new eating habits and preferences that give you the apparent feel of satisfaction and gradually day by day you attain your slimming goal.
Getting started the smart way.
There is no "complete package" solution to permanent healthy weight loss, but for starters;
• Think of changing your life style for the sake of your healthy, and not dieting which works short term. True, many healthy popular diets can quickly jump-start your weight loss, but permanent change life style and food choices are the long-term winners.
• Seek out fans and dissociate yourself from negative talk about your efforts. Social support from whatever corner motivates you on. Family, friends, or support groups all come in handy. Plug your ears to the sound of "that's how God created you, or you are naturally round".
• Go slow but gradual. Working to lose one to two pounds a week is healthy way to go. Other wise too much and to quick loss of weight will certainly take a toll on your mind and body resulting in slow body responses, dizziness and risk of falling totally sick.
• Consider it a project to benefit your loved ones too. Keeping healthy for the sake of your children and other dear ones is such a motivating factor. When frustrations and temptations strike don't reach for the fridge door, but think of the benefits you will gain from being leaner and healthier.
• Take up a sport. Any sport, jogging, tennis, any other sport even regular walking does the trick. Joining a sports social club will have many benefits from support, to expert advice.
• Keep records to track your progress. Record the food you are eating and the food you intend to eat. Weigh yourself regularly and take note of your findings. Through this you will be able to see the fruits of your weight loss efforts and as such stay more motivated.
