A Vital Ingredient of Weight Management Is Focus
We are fantastically complex organisms of thousands of biological systems working in harmony. Working with this gene machine and not against it is vital in waist management. Finding your focus is a key ingredient for success.
We all want a straightforward system that we can use for the rest of our lives. The way your body and brain work the way they do and how they affect weight loss and weight gain isn't a mystery. Science has given us the answers.
Putting on weight is a fault of our biology and the world we live in today. Using this knowledge we can beat the system and to get back control of the waist. We need to learn how to control the body, its signals and its drives rather than having them control you. No one likes to feel out of control.
Once we understand better what makes us think behave and act the way we do around food, the rest of it seems easier.
Managing you waist is about using and responding to your body intelligently. Fuel your body well and it will look after you for many long years to come.
There are no hard and fast rules here. You are a complex biological organism made up of thousands of complex interacting systems. The interplay of these systems follows predictable patterns which we can come to understand better and rules which will uncover the best ways to work with these systems will emerge regularly throughout these articles.
Further than being a complex biological system - we are all unique. We operate slightly differently to everyone else on the planet. Although we behave in quite different ways sometimes, this too can be understood, predicted and shaped to suit our purposes when we know a little more about how it all works.
The good news is that we are all descended from our ancestors and our bodies and minds evolved over many thousands of years to be like we are and these rules of natural selection and how they impact on our human behaviour are easy to understand. When we understand them a little better we will be able to understand why our body and its complex chemical systems behaves the way it does. In turn then we can work with it and not against it in our quest for better waist management.
If you get lost, don't panic. You don't have to understand everything for it to work. You might not even find it interesting. I will help to detail the best techniques that modern medicine and modern psychology have to offer. I find the details and the reasons behind what makes us the way we are absolutely fascinating. I hope you will too.
How to start? Good question.
You body is a gene machine designed to pass your genes onto the next. That is our purpose in life. We are then geared to look after the next generation to give them the best chance of passing on their genes (half yours) and so on. These are the reasons ultimately behind everything we think, feel, say, desire and do. Including eating doughnuts. And then feeling bad. And so on - really. Everything.
When your body, mind and spirit are working together in harmony, life feels better. These are artificial divides we've made up to help explain some of the apparent complexity behind our thoughts, wants and desires.
Today: focus.
Having a focus for your short, medium and long term strategy help you to bring your brain power and behaviour modification to mind. What do I mean? Well, if my goal and focus is to be beach body ready by next Summer I have a long term goal (beach body), a medium term goal (be fitter and eat a more balanced diet) and a short term goal (step away from the cookie jar and get back to the task at hand that I'm putting off in preference for yummy snacks).
Whatever your focus is - think about it. Write it down. Tell others. Journal your progress, make a star chart. How does this inspire you? If it doesn't, pick another. Find something that burns within. Something to get you our of bed early and make you want to drive towards it despite some pain and difficulties on the way.
That is the focus you want. Something to give you a metaphorical kick up the butt.
More another day. Good luck.
